Overview

Patient, Practice, Team Member Support:

  • Provide support to team members through effective communication and personal attention, using appropriate communication strategies and taking the appropriate steps to resolve questions and issues
  • Respond to patient concerns and inquiries in a professional and efficient manner
  • Effectively communicate and develop a strong working relationship with the Doctors and all Team Members and promote teamwork through cooperative and professional behavior

Responsibilities

Reoccurring Administrative Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently post patient and insurance payments or denials to the appropriate accounts from both paper and electronic sources
  • Process credit card payments and refunds through vendor online portal
  • Locate, create, format, and upload payment files to practice management software
  • Send correspondence to patients including statements and letters
  • Contribute to tracking performance metrics
  • Interpret and apply the patient payment responsibility and contractual provider adjustments as indicated on the remittance advice / explanation of benefits from insurance
  • Take direct action to resolve specified denial scenarios through appeal, rebill, repost, documentation in practice management software or sending of appropriate information
  • Notify practices or other team members in specific denial scenarios so they can take appropriate action
  • Balance each posted batch to ensure the postings are accurate and reconciled to the bank deposits
  • Identify, research, and provide resolution for account or payment discrepancies/questions
  • Evaluate unallocated payments and adjustments, then allocate, refund, or correct adjustments as appropriate
  • Communicate with vendors, insurance, practice team members, and patients to identify appropriate payment or refund actions as well as to support patient and practice questions
  • Update the practice management system with changes to patient information and/or documenting notes regarding the account
  • Conduct office duties including but not limited to scanning, filing, faxing, and purging documents
  • Receive and distribute insurance pre-authorizations to the appropriate practice or account record
  • Re-enter service charges to correct charge posting errors
  • Process incoming mail to include sorting, batching, and scanning of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements

 

 

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Possess strong customer service skills
  • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, striving for collaboration and demonstrating professionalism
  • Intermediate skill level of interpreting a variety of remittance advice / explanation of benefits from insurance
  • Understanding of coordination of benefits guidelines
  • Mathematical aptitude and analysis skills to assess and evaluate information, data, and
  • results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously with minimal direction, while relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Strong computer, typing, and 10-key skills
  • Education and Knowledge
  • Minimum high school diploma, degree preferred
  • Dental or medical experience preferred
  • 2-4 years of accounts receivable or billing experience required

Work Schedule

8 hours daily Monday-Friday
